Melissa McDonald served 5 years in the US Army and Army National Guard as an Engineer Officer from 1996-2001. She is an Army Brat and the daughter of two military officers, mom- an Army Nurse and dad – a career Special Forces Officer, as well as the military spouse of a career Army Infantry Officer. She is a lifelong supporter of the Army and military families worldwide, having led numerous Family Readiness Groups during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

On the civilian side, Melissa is the founder and Managing Director of The Smart PM,  a business and technology consulting agency with the foremost experts on Project Portfolio Management and Smartsheet. Melissa is a Smartsheet Partner, has her PMP, a master’s degree in project management from Boston University, and her bachelor’s degree in Physics from Xavier University.
